Community Outreach For Local Food Pantry
By: Deanna Alter
With a new take on football,
COLDWELL BANKER Riviera Realty joined forces with the Morning Star Food
Pantry, located in Bayville, NJ to bring soup to residents in need. With
the assistance of our staff we collected many different varieties of soup
for this “The Souper Bowl of Caring” event and delivered it to the food
pantry for distribution.
In February our agents thought
it was a good idea to “Share The Love” in our community for our community.
We dropped bags off at resident homes for donations to the Food Pantry.
Many agents, as well as residents, got involved and we thank all for their
continued support. We collected 69 bags and dropped them off to the pantry
for distribution. It was a wonderful turn out for the first installment
of our Food Drive.
Every little bit counts. Our hope is to keep the pantry’s shelves stocked with food for those who count on what they receive to sustain their families during these hard times. Right now, the need is great because the shelves are running low and the grants and donations are not enough to handle the amount of people in need. If you would like to donate, you can drop off non-perishable goods as well as pet food to our office in Baywick Plaza. Low-salt and sugar free items are also helpful, according to director, Laura Rubinski, for seniors who need to adhere to a strict diet. Pets are also a part of these families who are experiencing hard times and we want to make sure that they have enough sustenance to provide their owners with unconditional love that keeps them going.
Moving forward with our efforts, we are organizing a second installment of the Food Drive in March as the spring kick off to stomp out hunger in our community. Details of this event will follow in the next installation of the newsletter.

A longtime resident of Ocean County, I have always appreciated the benefits this area has to offer. Raised in Jackson,
I loved the farms, forests, and the close proximity to New York as well as Point Pleasant, Lavallette, and Seaside which were about
a ˝ hour drive away. I faithfully made the commute to Lavallette as a badge checker during my summers off from Monsignor Donovan.
I actually got paid to take in the beauty of the Jersey Shore on daily basis.
